ASA defeats Monroe for NEFC title

NEW ROCHELLE, New York - ASA recorded its third conference title with a 10-7 win over Monroe Saturday afternoon at Joseph F. Fosina Field. ASA also won titles in 2012 and 2013.

With 11:46 to play in the third quarter, ASA quarterback Stone Labanowitz hit Edward Morgan with a 16-yard touchdown pass to give ASA a 10-7 lead. It was Labanowitz's 18th touchdown pass of the season and was Morgan's ninth scoring reception, moving him into the NEFC's top 10.

Monroe quarterback Sean Kelly scored on a 10-yard run with 17 seconds left in the second quarter to give the Mustangs a 7-3 halftime lead. Kelly's touchdown capped a five-play, 63-yard drive.

ASA's Alessandro DeBlasi kicked a 21-yard field goal to give the Avengers a 3-0 lead over Monroe with 8:10 to play in the first quarter.

DuPage 24, Lackawanna 0

GLEN ELLYN, Illinois - The College of DuPage handed No. 15 Lackawanna a 24-0 loss Saturday in nonconference play. Lackawanna, now 6-2, was blanked for the first time since a 27-0 loss to ASA Oct. 12, 2013.
