Basil to coach ASA

Dan Basil has been named ASAs head football coach. Basil, who had been the associate head coach and defensive coordinator, replaces Joe Osovet, who accepted a position at the University of Tennessee.

Basil enters his third season at ASA, coming off a 9-1 season in his first year as associate head coach.

Its going to be a bit different this year. Under coach Oz (Osovet) we were more offensive minded. Were going to shift a bit into a defensive-minded team, Basil. We were sophomore heavy last season, especially on defense. All of our roster spots are open. Were just doing what we can to put these kids in positions to be successful.

The Avengers, who had eight sophomores starting on defense in 2017, ranked second nationally in total yards allowed and in points allowed per game and fourth in sacks and passing yards allowed per game.

More on Basil can be read at ASA.
