Calabrese to coach ASA

ASA College athletic director Kenney Wilcox has named Chris Calabrese as the Avengers' head coach.

"We're fortunate enough to have a coach on staff of the caliber of Chris Calabrese. The timing of this coaching change was not ideal, but there is no one better suited to take the helm and guide us into another championship season," said Wilcox. "Coach 'Cal' has an unparalleled work ethic and commitment to the ASA College Avengers' football program."

As a member of the football coaching staff for five years, Calabrese has been instrumental in leading the ASA Avengers to a 9-1 in 2017 and a win in the Valley of the Sun Bowl. Calabrese helped 55 student-athletes from 2017's football roster to four-year schools.

He has coached at East Coast Prep and at the Valley Forge Military Academy and completed an internship as a performance specialist at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Prior to his coaching and mentoring duties, Calabrese was a letterwinner in football, baseball, wrestling and golf at the Valley Forge Military Academy.  Receiving distinguished military rank during his entire time at VFMA, his strong leadership qualities led to the promotion of battalion training officer and lieutenant for the Class of 2005. He also lettered in football and goal for Menlo (CA) College. He graduated from Menlo College in 2009 with degrees in sports management and finance.
