NEW ROCHELLE, New York - Sept. 1 - Jalen Brown ran for 153 and two touchdowns as Monroe scored 21 unanswered points on its way to record a 24-8 season-opening win Saturday over New Jersey Warriors at Joseph F. Fosina Field.
Brown scored on runs of 55 and 78 yards. He also completed six passes for 44 yards. Armani Bermudez added 113 rushing yards and an 86-yard touchdown run.
Rashon McNeill led the Mustangs with 11 tackles.
The Mustangs (1-0) will play Nassau in Garden City, New York, Sept. 8 at 1 p.m.
ASA 37, Navy Prep 10
Newport, Rhode Island – Sept. 1 - ASA scored 27 unanswered points to record a 37-10 win over Navy Prep. Khalid Morris threw for two touchdowns and ran for another as the Avengers improved to 1-1. Morris broke a 10-10 tie with a 4-yard rushing touchdown to close the first half. He then threw two touchdown passes to Roland Foiyoe in the fourth quarter. Morris threw for 246 yards and ran for a team-high 73 yards.
Lackawanna 30, ASA-Miami 7
CHARLOTTE, North Carolina - Sept. 2 - No. 17 Lackawanna scored a touchdown in each quarter as the Falcons opened the season with a 30-7 win over ASA–Miami. The Falcons opened the game by scoring a safety and then marching 60 yards on their next possession, capping the drive on a 1-yard run by Calvin Bell.
After ASA-Miami scored a touchdown, Shane McLaughlin tossed a 12-yard scoring strike to Jail Negron. Reggie Jean-Charles added 2-yard scoring run in the third quarter before McLaughlin connected on a 39-yard touchdown pass to Norval Black.
The Falcons play the Wagner College JV at 1 p.m. Sept. 9 in Staten Island, New York.
