Falcons rally to down ASA

No. 6 Lackawanna scored 20 fourth-quarter points and a goal-line stand to down ASA 30-26 in the Northeast Football Conference opener for both teams.

ASA quarterback Khalid Morris gave ASA a 7-3 lead with a 30-yard scoring pass to Tosin Oyekanmi. Lackawanna quarterback Shane McLaughlin tied the score at 10 with a touchdown pass to James Stanley. Morris threw his second TD of the game to give ASA a 17-10 lead but ASA's Javeon Ensley returned an interception to give the Avengers a 23-10 halftime lead.

Lackawanna's Ryan Schumacher hit Jael Negron with a 26-yard scoring strike to make it 23-17 but ASA kicked a field goal for a 26-17 lead. The Falcons answered when Schumacher scored to make it 26-14.

Dillon Harris returned an interception 37 yards to give the Falcons the 30-26 lead but needed a defensive goal-line stand to improve to 6-0.

No. 14 Monroe 28, Valley Forge Military College 7

The No. 14-ranked Monroe College Mustangs improved to 4-0 with a 28-7 road win over Valley Forge Military College.

Zaire Jones ran for two touchdowns, one a 90-yarder and then a 40-yarder on fourth down in the third quarter.

Grant Melton intercepted a pass and made four sacks.
