NEFC teams stay unbeaten

All three Northeast Football Conference teams recorded wins over the weekend. Here is a quick look at the results:

ASA 84, Hudson Valley 0

TROY, N.Y., Sept. 7, 2019 - ASA scored a program-record 84 points in its shutout win over Hudson Valley in nonconference action Saturday.

Quarterback Tyrell Jackson threw for 205 yards and two touchdowns while Devin Dawkins led the rushing attack with 112 yards and two scores. Tyquan Brown also ran for 107 yards and a touchdown while Stephon Rucker-Carroll ran for two touchdowns and 64 yards. Overall, ASA recorded 657 yards in total offense.

The Avengers limited Hudson Valley to only five first downs and 45 yards in total offense. ASA intercepted three passes and recovered two fumbles, one for a touchdown.

No. 15 Monroe 52, No. 19 Nassau 27

NEW ROCHELLE, New York - In a battle of ranked teams, No. 15 Monroe broke out to a 35-0 halftime lead and never looked back in its 52-27 nonconference win over No. 19 Nassau Saturday at Joseph F. Fosina Field.

Quarterback Dominique Shoffner threw for four touchdowns and 337 yards while rushing for 39 yards and a touchdown. Clayton Scott ran for 105 yards and two touchdowns. Halim Dixon-King led the way with 97 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Emmanuel Appiah-Tahkyi recorded two interceptions for the second-straight contest.

No. 8 Lackawanna 55, Wagner College JV 0

STATEN ISLAND, New York - No. 8 Lackawanna opened the 2019 season with a 55-0 nonconference win over the Wagner College JV Sunday.

The scoring onslaught started on the opening kickoff when Delvin Palmer, on his first collegiate play, ran 95 yards for a touchdown.

Matt Cavallaro threw two touchdown passes and added a scoring run. Cavallaro threw for 192 yards. Marques DeShields led the Falcons’ rushing attack with 101 yards and scoring runs of 50 and 37 yards. Norval Black was the leading receiver with two receptions for 72 yards and a touchdown.

KaShaun Moore had a team-high seven tackles.
