Fourth quarter powers Lackawanna to victory

2008 Graphic Edge Bowl logoFrom ICCC Sports Information CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - Nov. 23, 2008 - Iowa Central's defense forced six turnovers, scored one touchdown and set up the other two in a 20-10 Graphic Edge Bowl win over Dean College at the UNIDome. It was Iowa Central's fourth-straight bowl victory.

The 16th-ranked Tritons (8-3) recovered four fumbles, including one for a touchdown by Kirkland Grant, and twice intercepted Dean quarterback Stanley Jennings. After Grant jumped on a fumble by Jennings for the first Iowa Central touchdown, the 270-pound sophomore tackle from Bloomington, Illinois, ran 48 yards with an intercepted shovel pass to set up a six-yard scoring run by David Ferris in the second period.

Iowa Central led 13-3 at the half. Ferris finished with 90 rushing yards, bringing his season total to 1,120 yards with 12 touchdowns despite missing two games with injuries.

With Iowa Central clinging to a 13-10 lead in the fourth quarter Antonio Bassett intercepted Jennings and returned it to midfield setting up a 26-yard touchdown run by Chayse Roth extending the Tritons' final margin of victory.

Jennings completed 23 of 43 passes for 273 yards.

The loss was the first in 11 games for the 10th-ranked Northeast Football Conference champion Dean College Bulldogs (10-1).
